Requirements: Bachelor's degree or higher in special education, elementary education, early childhood education, child development, or a related field with a special education teaching license. Per Indiana First Steps EI Policy Manual: "First-year developmental therapists must enroll at the associate level and receive one year of supervision to ensure professional competency unless the individual has at least one year of documented experience in IDEA Part C early intervention. First year developmental therapists with no prior early intervention experience must work for 12 months under the direct supervision of an enrolled, credentialed Developmental Therapy Early Childhood Specialist. The 12 months of supervision begins at enrollment. After 12 months, developmental therapists may submit a request to be credentialed at the specialist level." Experience working with children with developmental delays. Knowledge of Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) guidelines, including the development and implementation of appropriate goals within the DT scope of practice. Proficient in professional written and oral communication.
