DataOps Engineer

Overview In this DataOps Engineer role, you’ll implement and manage data platforms built on Azure, Fabric, and SQL Server to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure data environments. You’ll work across cloud and on‑premises systems, optimizing performance, availability, and cost while supporting deployment and on‑call needs. You’ll collaborate with data engineers and developers to automate workflows, governance, and disaster recovery, shaping how data underpins business decisions. This position offers hands‑on platform ownership within a growth‑minded, inclusive IT team at a Fortune 500 homebuilder. You will help build resilient data capabilities that enable rapid, secure insights at scale. ResponsibilitiesSupport and configure the data platform, including Fabric artifactsOptimize tenant/capacity environments for reliability, performance, and costParticipate in rotating on‑call support (24x7 during scheduled periods)Troubleshoot Fabric issues and coordinate with Engineering/IT leadershipManage orchestration/CI‑CD clusters and keep frameworks, libraries, and configs up to dateEnsure backup and high availability/DR for databases, participate in DR testingConfigure monitoring utilities and tune system performanceCollaborate with Data Engineers/Developers to implement changesAdvance data governance activities: lineage, masking, tagging, and security controlsAutomate provisioning, monitoring, and deployment workflows with DevOps partnersPrepare technical docs and best practices for procedures and deploymentsParticipate in planning and execution of software releases (Staging/Production)Contribute to platform enhancements and testing of Fabric/Azure featuresLead incident management for data platform outages with root‑cause analysisDevelop metrics, baselines, and triage processes for the platform Key requirementsStrong hands‑on experience with implementing and maintaining data platformsExperience with Fabric features (managed airflow, RTI architecture, managed workspace identities)Proficient with Microsoft SQL Server (Azure and on‑prem) installation, patching, monitoring, and optimizationExperience with SSAS/SSRS/PBI gateway servers and distributed computingProficient in T‑SQL scripting and queriesExperience with Azure database/storage technologiesExperience in HA/DR configuration and testing for SQL ServerExperience with source control (Azure DevOps, Git)Experience with Purview and data compliance frameworksExperience with Python scriptingKnowledge of Airflow and orchestration toolsUnderstanding of data governance, lineage, masking, and security frameworksAbility to collaborate with DevOps and cross‑functional teamsWillingness to travel if requiredBachelor or equivalent degree experience is not explicitly required but often expectedCollaboration and teamworkProblem solving and analytical thinkingAttention to detail and disciplined approachFabric features: managed airflow, RTI, workspace identitiesMicrosoft SQL Server (Azure and on‑prem)SSAS/SSRS/PBI gateway servers
