HR Benefits Coordinator

Effective immediately, a vacancy exists within the Human Resources Department for a Benefits Coordinator. The Benefits Coordinator is responsible for supporting the functions within the Office of Human Resources. This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of employee benefits, including health, dental, vision, long term disability insurance, basic life insurance and other leave needs such as FMLA etc. The Human Resources-Benefits Coordinator position is also involved in assisting and supporting on projects and other tasks as needed.Qulifications: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or universityThree years of Human Resources experience which has included administering employee benefitsOr any combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Human ResourcesConsiderable knowledge of federal and State employee laws involving benefit regulations, COBRA, ADA and FMLAConsiderable knowledge in the standard concepts, practices, and procedures of benefits administrationBilingual Spanish preferredAbility to maintain confidentialityAbility to organize and track data in a database or spreadsheetAbility to work independently and to organize and prioritize workloadDuties and Responsibilities: Provides Benefit Orientation to new hires to ensure employees are informed of their benefit options according to union contracts and agreementsEnrolls employees in selected benefit/insurance plans and maintains member enrollment and status changes using vendor proceduresResponds to benefit inquires and serves as liaison with insurance carriers and employees to resolve claim issuesProvides support to staff at time of retirement or resignation such as severance, sick time transfer, etc.Serves as liaison with third party administrators for COBRA administration, Worker's Compensation claims and disability claimsMeets with employees to discuss leave requests and options, advises them of leave balances, and tracks leave beginning and ending datesPrepares and organizes materials, information and procedures for Open EnrollmentOversees workplace wellness initiativesParticipates in screening interviews for support and professional staffWorks with district administrators on the development and modifications of job descriptions ensuring that information is kept up-to-dateCollects and analyzes survey data received from other employersAdds Leave information to Board agenda document for HR TeamAssists with data collection as needed in preparation for contract negotiationsPerform other duties as assignedSalary & Schedule *salary based on equal or greater experience Monday-Friday 8:00 am- 5:00 pm (1 hour unpaid lunch) $70,000-$75,000*
