Mechanical Engineer II
Mechanical Engineer II
JOB SUMMARY:
The Mechanical Engineer II position at Lumibird Photonics USA requires the ability to design, analyze, test, optimize and document mechanical components, assemblies and systems. The engineer works with an interdisciplinary design team to develop commercial, industrial, medical and military systems, subsystems and standard product variants related to the photonics industry. The role involves applying engineering principles such as material selection, tolerancing, manufacturability and finite element analysis to new and existing products. It also requires planning, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ability to independently design, develop and optimize mechanical prototypes, components, assemblies and systems using CAD/CAE tools. Clear communication, collaboration, and teamwork with coworkers and colleagues is a must.
Perform detailed engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, vibration, fluid dynamics and fatigue to validate designs and ensure performance, reliability and compliance requirements.
Design/build fixturing and tooling in support of prototype testing, and performance validation.
Develop prototypes, conduct testing (lab, field, or simulation), analyze results, troubleshoot failures, identify root causes, and implement design improvements or corrective actions.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including 3D models, renderings, detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOM), specifications, test reports, revision management and engineering change orders.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, manufacturing, production, quality, supply chain, and project management) to integrate mechanical designs and resolve issues.
Provide input and support project planning, scheduling, and execution for components and subsystems. This may lead to small-to-moderate scope projects or design tasks under senior level guidance.
Evaluate materials, manufacturing processes, and cost-reduction opportunities while ensuring designs comply with safety, regulatory, and quality standards as defined
