Histotechnician

JOB SUMMARY: The Histotechnician (Lab Technician III) is responsible for performing advanced histology and histopathology laboratory activities to support research and translational studies. This role involves tissue processing, assay development, quality control, and maintaining laboratory operations while ensuring high standards of data quality, accuracy, and compliance. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform routine histology tasks including tissue processing, embedding, microtome sectioning, slide preparation, and coverslipping Develop, optimize, and execute histopathology assays such as H&E, special stains, IHC, and ISH Design and maintain multiplex tissue-based assays (e.g., multiplex IHC/IF) ensuring reproducibility and data quality Support daily lab operations including sample tracking, reagent preparation, and inventory management Conduct quality control (QC) on tissue sections, stains, and digital images; document deviations and improvements Operate and maintain histology equipment such as microtomes, automated stainers, and slide scanners Maintain accurate experimental records, SOPs, and assay documentation Communicate findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams on data analysis and troubleshooting Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Histotechnology, Pathology, Biomedical Sciences, or related field Hands-on experience with histology techniques (tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining) Experience with histopathology assays including IHC and/or ISH Strong understanding of quality control, reproducibility, and lab documentation Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative laboratory environment Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with multiplex assays (IHC/IF) Experience in research or clinical laboratory settings Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines efficiently CERTIFICATIONS: Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification (preferred) Education: Bachelors Degree Certification: Histotechnologist
