Job Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse will perform routine technical nursing duties and assist with other related duties involved in providing care for Hebron Public Schools students and staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Accurately record patient information
· Monitor patients’ condition and respond with appropriate care
· Communicate regularly with the school nurse and/or building administration each school day
· Perform screening tests for which he or she has been prepared by education and experience
· Supports and maintains records and prepares oral reports, as requested.
· Takes vital signs and measurements (i.e., temperature, heart rate, height/length and weight, etc.).
· Assembles and maintains materials and equipment, as needed.
· Maintains adequate supplies.
· Cleans and maintains equipment and disposes of used supplies correctly.
· Monitor daily student attendance.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team
· Familiarity with school health, safety, and sanitation standards and procedures
· Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices
· Good knowledge of data entry, record keeping, and the SNAP system
· Successful completion of LPN license program.
· Knowledge of accepted procedures for disposing of used supplies.
· Ability to observe the general physical condition of patients to detect signs of abnormalities.
· Ability to record observations completely, accurately, legibly, and concisely.
· Ability to communicate effectively in person and over telephone.
· Ability to exercise tact, initiative, and good judgment in working with people.
· Ability to accept supervision.
Education and Experience:
· Licensed to practice as a vocational nurse in the state.
Physical Requirements:
· Must have the physical ability execute the full performance of the duties of the position.
