Control Engineer

Job Title: Control Engineer (Gold Certified Ignition Specialist: Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Control Engineer with **Gold Certification in Ignition** to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in control systems engineering, with a focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining industrial control systems in a manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for optimizing our automation processes using the Ignition SCADA platform, ensuring efficient production operations, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Key Responsibilities: SCADA Design & Implementation: - Design, develop, and maintain SCADA systems using **Ignition** to optimize automation processes. - Integrate and configure control systems, PLCs, and HMIs with the Ignition platform. - Implement best practices for real-time data collection, monitoring, and visualization of manufacturing processes. Control Systems Engineering: - Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) for manufacturing equipment and processes. - Develop and implement control strategies to improve production efficiency and equipment performance. - Ensure control systems are reliable, scalable, and comply with safety and regulatory standards. Manufacturing Support: - Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve control system issues in a timely manner. - Provide technical support for existing control systems and automation equipment. - Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure control systems are properly maintained and calibrated. System Integration: - Interface with various industrial devices, including sensors, drives, and actuators, ensuring seamless integration with the SCADA and control systems. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, operations, and maintenance to integrate new systems and optimize existing processes. - Manage the integration of industrial protocols such as OPC, Modbus, and Ethernet/IP. Data Analysis & Optimization: - Use Ignition’s advanced analytics tools to gather and analyze process data to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement. - Develop dashboards and reports to provide real-time insights into production metrics. - Lead continuous improvement initiatives through automation and control system enhancements. Project Management: - Lead automation projects from conception through commissioning, including scope development, budgeting, and scheduling. - Work with external vendors and contractors to specify and implement new control systems and technologies. - Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives. Qualifications: Gold Certification in Ignition from Inductive Automation (required). - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field. - 5+ years of experience in control systems engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment. - Strong proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.). - Experience with industrial networking and protocols (Ethernet/IP, OPC, Modbus). - Hands-on experience with HMI and SCADA systems, specifically Ignition. - Strong understanding of electrical and control systems design and safety standards. - Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. - Strong communication and project management skills. - Experience with MES integration and SQL database management is a plus. Preferred Skills: - Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. - Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity best practices. - Familiarity with other automation platforms and software tools.
