Sterile Processing Technician
Trained to all areas of the department, the Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in infection prevention by ensuring all aspects of reprocessing are followed using manufacturer IFU, department policies, and professional standards. Reprocessing includes the phases of transportation, decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and high-level disinfection of surgical instrument pans, endoscopes, procedure trays, technical equipment and surgical case carts for the O.R, ambulatory care, hospital units and offsite clinics. Safely and competently operates complex equipment including cart washer, washer-sanitizers, endoscope reprocessor, ultrasonic devices, hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, and steam sterilizers. Understands, maintains, and conforms to the legal, ethical, and safety responsibilities inherent in providing safe care for patients.
Machines and Equipment Used: In addition to above, computers, printers, incubators, heat sealers, aerator, hand and power tools, calibration instruments, borescope, lighted magnification, and other items added as necessary to fulfill safe reprocessing and quality control including future instrument tracking system
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Prefer minimum one year of post-secondary or year of related sterile processing experience.
Working knowledge or ability to quickly learn Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook, and EPIC.
Candidates must already possess or pass IAHCSMM Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) within one year of service and maintain certification during employment.
