STEM Outreach Project Control Specialist

OverviewFWI is building a team to deliver STEM outreach support services for the Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) Next-Gen Outreach Office at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. As the STEM Outreach Project Control Specialist, you will be the operational backbone of the Next-Gen Outreach Office - managing the SEMEDS after-school program, Job Shadow Days, Science Fair judging coordination, Classroom Speakers project, and web/social media presence, all while ensuring the office runs efficiently and communicates its mission effectively.FWI has been recognized as a Top Workplace by the Washington Post in 2024 and 2025, offering excellent growth opportunities in a collaborative environment.Position is contingent upon contract awardWork Schedule and Location:On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio.ResponsibilitiesManage the SEMEDS program: a twice-monthly after-school program bringing high school and middle school students on-base to use Scanning Electron MicroscopesCoordinate WPAFB semi-annual Job Shadow Days for high school juniors and seniorsAct as organizational 'webmaster' - creating and maintaining web-based resources and STEM Outreach social media accountsManage the Classroom Speakers project by soliciting, scheduling, and coordinating expert STEM volunteersCoordinate Science Fair judging volunteers across Miami Valley schools; procure medals and ribbonsAssist the FLL co-lead with overall program administrationCompile quarterly reports and provide information for STEM Outreach Coordinator and staffDevelop and maintain tracking tools to improve efficiency and program effectivenessProduce STEM Outreach monthly newsletter and other media contentQualificationsRequired:* Minimum 5 years of project management experience, at least 5 years of STEM outreach experience, and at least 2 years of website management experience; OR* Bachelor's degree in a science field with minimum 5 years of project management experience, at least 1 year of STEM outreach experience, and at least 2 years of website management experienceFWI is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability/vets.Why Join Our TeamAt FWI, we place the highest importance on creating an exceptional employee experience.
