Senior Buyer
The Senior Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement of materials, components, and services to support Columbia Vehicle Group’s manufacturing operations. This role ensures timely material availability, cost control, and strong supplier performance while supporting production schedules and continuous improvement initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesSource and procure raw materials, components, and services to support production schedulesNegotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve cost savings and valueDevelop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality and on-time deliveryMonitor supplier performance and address quality, delivery, or service issuesCollaborate with Production, Engineering, and Inventory Control to align purchasing with demandMaintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing excess and shortagesSpearhead localization efforts from Wisconsin to South Carolina.Expedite orders and proactively resolve supply chain disruptionsSupport ERP/MRP system accuracy including purchase orders, lead times, and supplier dataIdentify and implement cost reduction and process improvement initiativesAssist with new product launches, including supplier sourcing and material readinessProvide guidance and support to junior purchasing team members as neededQualifications5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environmentExperience working with ERP/MRP systemsProficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysisAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentProficient at reading and understanding drawings and specification documentsExperience negotiating vendor agreementsWork EnvironmentOffice-based role with frequent interaction on the manufacturing floor.
