Job Title: Custom Truck Fabrication TechnicianDepartment: FAB/Ag ShopReports To: FAB/Ag Shop ManagerPosition SummaryThe Custom Truck Fabrication Technician is responsible for designing, fabricating, installing, and modifying custom truck components and assemblies. This role focuses on high-quality craftsmanship for custom truck builds, including beds, racks, bumpers, frames, mounts, and accessories. The technician must be able to work from drawings, measurements, and concepts while ensuring safety, durability, and customer-specific requirements are met.Key ResponsibilitiesFabricate and install custom truck components such as:Flatbeds, service bodies, and dump bodiesHeadache racks, toolboxes, and ladder racksBumpers, steps, mounts, brackets, and guardsTrailer hitches and towing componentsRead and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and build specsPerform cutting, fitting, welding, and finishing of steel and aluminum componentsPerform MIG and TIG welding to structural and cosmetic standardsMeasure, layout, and fit components directly on truck frames and bodiesModify existing truck equipment to meet custom requirementsEnsure proper alignment, clearances, and secure mounting of fabricated componentsCoordinate with shop foreman and other technicians to meet build timelinesInspect finished work for strength, fit, finish, and safety complianceFollow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work areaAssist with troubleshooting fitment or design challenges during buildsRequired Skills & QualificationsProven experience in custom truck fabrication or automotive fabricationStrong welding skills (MIG required; TIG preferred)Ability to read fabrication drawings and take accurate measurementsExperience working with truck frames, chassis, and body componentsProficiency with shop tools: saws, welders, presses, grinders, brakes, and hand toolsStrong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail and pride in craftsmanshipAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPreferred QualificationsWelding certifications (AWS or equivalent)Experience fabricating service bodies, flatbeds, or upfitsExperience with aluminum fabricationKnowledge of DOT and vehicle safety requirementsExperience with electrical or hydraulic components (lighting, PTOs, hoists)Forklift certificationPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined or elevated positionsAbility to lift up to 50 poundsAbility to work in a fabrication shop environment with noise, heat, and fumesWork EnvironmentCustom fabrication and upfit shopPPE required (welding helmet, gloves, eye and hearing protection)Occasional overtime based on production schedulesPerformance ExpectationsDeliver high-quality custom truck builds with minimal reworkMeet production timelines and quality standardsMaintain a safe work recordDemonstrate reliability, accountability, and teamworkCommunicate clearly regarding build status and issues#hc217034
