Tool & Die MakerStamping SectionOutline of duties:Metal stamping die backgroundExperience repairing and maintaining heavy presses, blank, transfer, and progressive dies A-surface end products i.e. large products, exposed panelsMaintenance skills: Welding (stick and tig preferred)Analytical skillsMechanical skillsMath & Computer skillsTool Room equipment knowledge (mills, lathes, grinders, and drill presses)Physical demands: must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. Performs all other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:3 years of tool & die experienceClass-A experienceTool & Die, Die Maker, Die Setter, Tooling, Tool Room, Machinist, and Machining Experience with heavy presses, blank, transfer, and progressive dies (repairing and maintaining)Surface end products i.e. large products, exposed panelsHigh School diploma or GED Preferred Qualifications:Automotive die background (3+ years)Journeyman or apprenticeship cardDraw die repair: taking damaged die and using techniques such as heat raising or welding and then finishing by handIn-Press troubleshooting: splits, buckles, slivers, distortion Draw bead repairScrap fall troubleshootingDie timing, Die settingSteel and aluminum end-product experienceNest panel to the lower die and scrap cuttersDie spotting. Ability to ready the high spot in the panel and make correct decisions on metal addition/removal Understand material flow in the dieBalance the draw dieSquaring up lower and upper die cuttersAble to identify tight and loose trim by examining the trimmed edge of the panelSetup, operation, and basic G code programming for CNC equipmentOverhead crane experiencePlastic injection experience Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer committed to employing a diverse workforce.
