Project Manager - Roadway Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager who is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Indiana to lead roadway engineering design projects of varying size and complexity throughout the region. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer with strong skills in project leadership, technical oversight, client coordination, and strategic planning. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, strengthen client relationships, ensure high‑quality deliverables, and play a key role in advancing our roadway design practice.Lochmueller Group is a regional engineering consulting firm with an emphasis on infrastructure. We provide multi-disciplined services for a variety of public agencies and private entities, including transportation design; water resources design; environmental analysis & permitting; construction engineering & inspection; traffic engineering & transportation planning; surveying; and land acquisition & appraisal. This is a great place to build a career and grow with a company that is dedicated to quality and service as we make a difference in our communities.In this position, the candidate will:Perform project management duties or serve as a technical leader on projects of varying complexityProvide leadership in the planning, design, and execution of major roadway and transportation projectsOversee the preparation of project documents, designs, analyses, and technical reports; interpret data and coordinate engineering tasksReview and approve project deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and technical documentationServe as a technical expert in roadway engineering designConduct QA/QC reviews to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with standardsMentor and coach junior and mid‑level engineers, supporting their technical and professional developmentOversee multiple project teams and ensure alignment with organizational goals and project objectivesAssist with resource leveling of staff across projects. Collaborate with senior management on strategic planning and assist with business development initiativesPrepare proposals, scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and funding applicationsLead project meetings and present to clients, stakeholders, and internal teamsRepresent the organization in interactions with clients, officials, contractors, and partner organizationsSupervise work groups that may include engineers, designers, and techniciansReview operational procedures to ensure compliance with policies, standards, and performance measuresMake decisions based on advanced technical knowledge and professional experiencePerform other duties as assignedQualifications for the role:Typically requires 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience with a strong background in roadway design. We welcome applicants with a range of experience levels, provided they can demonstrate successful management of roadway design projects for DOTs or LPAs.
