Chief Financial OfficerChief Financial Officer National Insurance Defense Law FirmThe Opportunity: We are a national, multi-state insurance defense litigation firm with approximately 300 employees seeking a strategic finance leader to join our executive leadership team in our Miami-Brickell office. While prior CFO experience is highly valued, we are also open to exceptional candidates who are ready to step into their first CFO role, particularly those who have operated as a VP of Finance, Director of Finance, Controller, or similar senior leader within a law firm or professional services environment.This is a high-impact, strategic role for someone who understands the economics of insurance defense and professional services and can partner effectively with firm ownership and senior leadership.The CFO will be responsible for firmwide financial strategy, performance management, and operational finance across a geographically dispersed organization. The ideal candidate brings strong executive presence, deep financial acumen, and the ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable guidance for partners.This is not a remote position. Must be able to commute or relocate to Miami.Key Responsibilities Executive Financial Leadership:Serve as a strategic advisor to firm leadership on financial performance, profitability, and long-term planningLead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and multi-year financial planningPresent clear, concise financial reporting and insights to partners and executive leadershipSupport strategic initiatives including geographic expansion and lateral growthInsurance Defense Economics & PerformanceOversee financial performance of insurance defense matters, with a focus on utilization, realization, collections, and margin managementMonitor rate structures, carrier guidelines, write-offs, and profitability by client, practice group, and officeIdentify revenue leakage and develop strategies to improve margins while remaining competitive in the insurance defense marketPartner with operations and practice leadership to align staffing models with case economicsAccounting, Cash Flow & Controls:Oversee all accounting and finance functions, including billing, AR/AP, general ledger, trust accounting, and monthly closeManage cash flow, working capital, and banking relationshipsEnsure strong internal controls and compliance with applicable regulationsLead annual audits, tax filings, and coordination with external advisorsPartner Economics & Compensation Support:Provide financial analysis and support for partner compensation models, capital accounts, and drawsSupport leadership in evaluating compensation structures and equity considerationsMaintain discretion and professionalism in all partner-related financial mattersMulti-State Operations & Infrastructure:Oversee financial implications of multi-state operations, including payroll, taxes, and benefitsPartner with HR and Operations on benefits strategy, workforce planning, and complianceSupport finance, billing, and technology system enhancements to improve efficiency and scalabilityTeam Leadership:Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting teamBuild scalable processes and a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvementQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (CPA and/or MBA preferred)5+ years of progressive financial leadership experiencePrior experience in a law firm is requiredDemonstrated understanding of insurance defense or rate-driven litigation practicesExperience supporting multi-state operations and distributed workforcesStrong knowledge of law firm financial metrics, billing practices, and partner economicsCandidates without prior CFO titles are encouraged to apply if they have operated at a senior finance leadership level and are prepared to step into a firmwide executive roleIdeal Candidate Profile:Strategic, business-oriented finance leader with strong executive presenceComfortable advising and influencing firm owners and senior partnersAble to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholdersHands-on, collaborative, and solutions-focused leadership styleHigh level of integrity, discretion, and professionalismReady to grow into the CFO role and lead with confidence, even if this is their first time holding the titleWhat We Offer:Direct collaboration and strategic partnership with executive leadershipSalary range depending on depth and years of experienceAnnual performance bonuses based on organizational and individual resultsAnnual reviews with potential for significant salary growthHybrid work environment - in our Miami office.Flexible work hoursMedical Insurance Currently provided by Cigna Healthcare with multiple plans to choose from; partially paid for by the company; all outpatient mental health services are free of charge with no copaysOptional Dental & Vision InsuranceOptional Voluntary Life and Disability InsuranceOptional Voluntary Accident InsuranceOptional Critical Illness InsuranceOptional Cancer InsuranceOptional Hospitalization InsuranceOptional Health Savings AccountOptional Flexible Spending Account401k after one calendar year of employmentPaid time off (PTO) to support your overall well-beingSupportive and collaborative work environmentAbout Lydecker:Lydecker is an AV-rated full-service law firm with over 215 attorneys Nationwide!
