About the Role:We are seeking drivers with a commercial class A license with doubles endorsement to deliver beautiful plants to our customers. No experience is needed, willing to train the right candidates!SummaryBased at our Dayton, OR nursery, the primary function of a Driver Craftsman is to safely operate Class A commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating over 26,000 lbs — ranging from a single 28’ trailer up to a 53’ trailer or a set of doubles — to deliver and unload beautiful Monrovia plants to our valued customers throughout the West Coast corridor (BC, OR, CA, NV, WA, and ID). Customer service is a cornerstone of this role; our Driver Craftsmen represent the Monrovia brand at every stop. This position offers competitive compensation including overtime eligibility, a per diem allowance of up to $80.00 per day, and company-provided lodging depending on equipment type and trip length.Duties And ResponsibilitiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:Operating Class A commercial motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) over 26,000 lbs, including a single 28’ trailer, a set of double 28’ trailers, a 48’ trailer with liftgate, a 53’ refrigerated trailer, or a 53’ dry box trailer, to deliver beautiful Monrovia plants to our valued customers throughout the West Coast corridor (BC, OR, CA, NV, WA, and ID).Unloading and/or assisting customers with the unloading of primarily palletized and racked plant freight; proper handling techniques are required to protect both product and customer property.Assist in our rack retrieval program.Obtain shipping bills of lading and necessary signatures and return completed documents as appropriate to the shipping office.Operate in a safe manner performing pre trip and post trip inspections and adhering to all safety policies and procedures.Serve as a brand ambassador and the face of Monrovia at every customer stop — delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining a professional demeanor, and building lasting relationships with garden center personnel and the public.Maintain an electronic driver's log with accuracy and in compliance with DOT regulations.Comply with all DOT and in-house regulations and rules.Performs other related duties to benefit the mission of the company as assigned. Compensation & Benefits HighlightsOvertime eligible — extended hours are common during spring shipping season and are compensated accordingly.Per diem allowance of up to $80.00 per day.Company-provided lodging for overnight trips, depending on equipment type and route length.Competencies And QualificationsValid state Class A CDL with doubles endorsement.Are at least 21 years of age.Have an acceptable driving record for the past 3 years (must be accepted by insurance).Good basic math and geography skills.Can follow verbal and written instructions accurately and are able to respond in writing as necessary.Outstanding customer service skills; able to engage with garden center personnel with professionalism, tact, and diplomacy — customer interaction is a core expectation of this role.Open to feedback.Open to and eligible for overtime; extended hours are common during the spring shipping season.DOT physical and medical requirements and can successfully pass a substance abuse screening.Enjoy working in a team environment and being supportive of co-workers.Education And ExperienceMinimum of 3 years of verifiable Class A CDL driving experience required.AMERICANS WITH DISABILITY SPECIFICATIONSPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a craftsman to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
