Data Engineer (Scala / Spark / AWS)

ResponsibilitiesKforce's client in Greenwood Village, CO is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to join a high-performing team focused on building and scaling data solutions that support advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives. In this role, you'll work closely with Data Scientists and Engineers to help bring models into production, enabling data-driven decision-making across large-scale systems. This is an opportunity to work with high-volume data, modern data platforms, and real-world use cases in a fast-paced environment. What You'll Do: Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and Spark-based applications Partner with Data Scientists to operationalize models and support experimentation Process and manage large-scale datasets in distributed environments Design and implement data transformations, aggregations, and workflows Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and testing practices Support both batch and near real-time data processing Work within an established codebase and identify opportunities for improvement over time Collaborate across teams to deliver reliable, production-ready data solutionsRequirements Strong programming experience in Scala (or Java with functional programming, with willingness to learn Scala) Hands-on experience with Apache Spark Experience working with large-scale data systems Familiarity with CI/CD and deployment processes Experience with testing and writing production-quality code Experience working in cloud environments (AWS preferred) Strong problem-solving and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with Python for data processing or analytics Familiarity with Databricks or similar platforms Experience supporting machine learning workflows or model deployment Exposure to real-time or streaming data systems Experience working in cross-functional, collaborative teams What You'll Get: Opportunity to work on large-scale, impactful data systems Close collaboration with data science and engineering teams Exposure to modern data tools and evolving architecture A hands-on role with ownership and growth opportunities Additional Information Preference for candidates based in or near Denver, CO This role is best suited for engineers who enjoy working with data at scale and building production systems Strong collaboration and communication skills are key to successThe pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.
