PBX Supervisor

General Purpose of Job:Supervises and coordinates the duties of the PBX telephone operators. Assists the PBX Manager with work schedules, assigning duties on the basis of work load, and working with vendors to coordinate outside projects. Answers calls for the Telecom Helpdesk, opening tickets when appropriate. Supervises department’s personnel, assigns work schedules, as directed by the PBX Manager.Answers calls for the Telecom Helpdesk, opening work tickets for Telecom Techs as appropriate and if needed.Assists in the training and orientation of all new departmental employees and the Sr. PBX Operator as directed by the PBX Manager.Maintains adequate inventory of departmental supplies. Reorders supplies as necessary.Requests service or repairs as needed for the entire phone system.Maintains and updates on call files for doctors and employees.Assists in issuing and the ongoing maintenance of pagers and cellular phonesAssists in the responsibilities of all incoming phone calls to include: 1-800 numbers, physician referral calls, etc. and helps to maintain the phone system and directory.Assists in managing the Amtelco Soft Agent System, to include updating directories and troubleshooting issues as they arise.Other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities:Effectively administers performance management system including:developmental feedbackgoal settingassesses competencyprogressive disciplineinterview and hire PBX operatorsStrong knowledge of and effective in administering hospital policies and procedures.Responsible for sound management of human resources.Makes and implements decisions compatible with organizational goals.Maintains composure, effectiveness, and flexibility under pressure.Supervises the following job classes: PBX operators.Education and/or Experience:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Must have working understanding of DCH’s phone system and equipment.Computer skills and software requirements.
