Locum Tenens Opportunity: Hematology/Oncology Profession: Physician Specialty: Hematology/Oncology Shift: Day 5x8-Hour (08:00 - 17:00) Start Date: 08/05/2024 Job Duration: 13 months # of Positions: 2 Description Are you a Hematologist/Oncologist seeking a rewarding locum tenens opportunity near ROCKVILLE MD? We have an exciting position available starting from 08/05/2024 for a duration of 13 months. Here are the details: Specialty: Medical Oncology (consulting service, not teaching) Start Date: As soon as possible, while looking for permanent placement Contract Length: Ongoing, ideally a 10-12 month contract. Candidates with less than 6 months will not be considered. Shift Details: The clinic operates from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday. The Infusion Center hours are also from 8 AM to 5 PM or 5:30 PM. You must attend a Tumor Board meeting every Tuesday from 8 AM to 9 AM (virtual meeting) to discuss patients and treatment recommendations. Schedule: You'll rotate between clinic and hospital duties, with an average of 2-5 consults per day while on call. Call Schedule Call Rotation: 1:4 or 1:5 weeks. While on call, you'll have clinic from 8 AM to 12 PM, followed by attending to patients admitted to the hospital from 12:30 PM to 5 PM. Calls are mainly phone consultations, with rare instances requiring in-person attendance. Work Details Support Staff: You'll work alongside 5 experienced Medical Oncologists (including 1 retiring on June 30), with a call rotation of 1:4 or 1:5 weeks. The clinic is supported by 3 experienced NPs, nurse navigators, and Medical Assistants. Patients per day: The average outpatient clinic volume is 15 patients per day, with a range of 8 to 22 patients. Additionally, you'll handle 2-5 consults per day while on call, dealing with complicated cases. Patient Population/Age: All adults aged 18 and above (pediatric program available separately) EMR: Cerner Practice Setting: Community Hospital, primarily outpatient clinic with occasional hospital check-ins for admitted patients.
