This role plays a critical role in maintaining financial integrity, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance as the business scales across multiple states and globally.This individual will also support the transition from a PEO model to a broker-led, self-insured benefits structure, ensuring accurate financial management, compliance, and operational execution.Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll & ControlsEnsure accuracy across payroll systems (e.g., Rippling) and global providers such as RemoteEstablish and maintain strong internal controls and documentationSupport internal and external audits related to payrollTax, Compliance & FilingsOversee payroll tax filings and compliance (federal, state, and local)Manage sales tax compliance, including nexus tracking, filings, and audit readinessOwn corporate filings, entity registrations, and annual compliance requirementsPartner with Legal and Finance to ensure adherence to regulatory requirementsMulti-State Registration & ComplianceManage multi-state registrations, including SUI, SIT, and state/local withholding accountsEnsure registrations are completed prior to first employee payroll in new statesMaintain compliance with ongoing state and local filing requirements and deadlinesMonitor nexus triggers related to hiring footprint and business activityMaintain centralized tracking of registrations, filings, and compliance deadlinesBenefits & Total Rewards (Accounting Lens)Support transition from PEO to broker-led and self-insured benefits modelPartner with FP&A on financial modeling for benefits (cost projections, accruals, and variance analysis)Partner with brokers and People & Culture on renewals, plan design, and contributionsEnsure accurate payroll deductions and financial reporting of benefitsGlobal Payroll & ComplianceCoordinate global payroll and compliance through providers such as RemoteEnsure alignment between global payroll, tax compliance, and local regulationsPartner with Finance and Legal on international expansion requirementsWhat Success Looks LikeAccurate, timely payroll with clean reconciliations and no surprisesStrong internal controls and audit-ready documentationNo missed filings, penalties, or compliance gapsClear visibility into payroll, tax, and benefits-related spendSmooth transition from PEO to self-insured modelQualifications5+ years of global payroll and compliance experience in a growing SaaS companyDeep understanding of payroll controls, reconciliations, and audit processesExperience with multi-state payroll tax compliance and registrationsExposure to sales tax, corporate filings, and compliance requirementsExperience supporting benefits accounting and renewalsFamiliarity with systems such as Rippling and global payroll providers (e.g., Remote)Additional InformationAccessibility & Work EnvironmentINNERGY is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible work environment.
