Please do not share outside of the organization.Your RoleMilliporeSigma is looking for a Process Development Scientist to join the technical branch of the commercial organization in the Midwest, working remotely from Indianapolis, Chicago, St. Louis or Minneapolis, and supporting process development and manufacturing sciences activities. The development scientist is part of a worldwide team of engineers and scientists reporting into the technical support group for MilliporeSigma's Process Solutions business.Lead development studies for purification of therapeutic proteins using MilliporeSigma technologies (sterile filtration, depth filtration, tangential flow filtration, viral reduction filtration, chromatography)Involve in selection/sizing, process optimization, and tech transfer for purification of new pharmaceuticals, focused on Phase I-III developmentProvide customer consultations via email, telephone, or videoCollaborate with customer process development groups in the Central United StatesPartner with local MilliporeSigma account managers to deliver technical expertise to customersSupport clinical and commercial scale implementations using sound engineering principles, including identifying CQAs and maintaining critical control parametersDocument customer interfacing activities in electronic systems; propose new technical ideas for the broader group and contribute to cross-functional strategy executionThis position will include travel of up to 30% within North America regionPhysical AttributesLifting of up to 50 poundsMinimum QualificationsWho you are: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or other Life Science discipline3+ years of experience within pharmaceutical development, technology implementation, or protein or viral particle purification-OR-Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or other Life Science discipline2+ years of experience within pharmaceutical development, technology implementation, or protein or viral particle purification-OR-PhD in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or other Life Sciences discipline1+ years of experience within pharmaceutical development, technology implementation, or protein or viral particle purificationPreferred QualificationsAn in-depth knowledge and understanding of bioprocess unit operationsAbility to derive relevant conclusions, based on the experimental results, and effectively communicate this to our customersExcellent hands on laboratory skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Excel or other data analysis softwareSound understanding of downstream and/or upstream biomanufacturing process requirements, best practices, and industry standardsComfort with making recommendations for future course of action based on experimental resultsAbility to relay relevant results to sales, field marketing, etc.Ability to identify scientific leadership opportunities and execute through lunch & learns, publications, presentations, etc. with a focus on customer collaborationAbility to cope with change, adjust test plans quickly, and comfortably handle risk and uncertaintyAbility to build effective relationships; both internally and externallyAbility to produce quality written experimental reports and other appropriate documentationHighly motivated, self-directed, and able to work independently in a field-based positionDemonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively to diverse audiences through both written and oral communicationsPay Range for this position: $89,800-$134,700.The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors.
