Job DescriptionHarrah's Cherokee Casino Resort Position DescriptionPOSITION TITLE: Cook IIDEPARTMENT:Banquet, EDR, Gordon Ramsay, Selu, Guy Fieri, The Smokehouse Coop, Noodle Bar, Pool Bar, Italian GRADE/FLSA STATUS: H10-Non-ExemptBADGE TYPE/COLOR:Work Permit - PeachREPORTS TO: Sous ChefSUPERVISES:N/AJOB SUMMARY:Prepare all food orders in a quick and timely manner in accordance with established recipes.JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for fast and clean servicing of all menu itemsPrepare, cook, and season all foodEnsure the quality and presentation of food products preparedPerform all station functions necessary in the prep and cooking areasProvide the highest quality of service to customers and associates at all timesAble to grill, fry, and serve menu items in front of guestsEnsure each order sent out is uniform and consistentAdhere to kitchen maintenance and sanitation programControl food production to include proper cooking methods, cooking time and temperature and ensuring sanitation, handling and storage of prepared food and leftoversPrepare for rush period of work without getting behind organizing workday to accommodate needsCheck workstation and maintain the general cleanliness of the various cook stations throughout kitchenKeep stock on hand and organizes ordersProtect all company assets regarding waste, breakage, and theftGet orders for meat needed/order or cut to meet the day's needsFill special orders when customers request itKeep errors to a minimumKnowledgeable about Harrah's facilities, promotions, and servicesComplete a task, even if overtime is involvedUnderstand local sanitation, health code laws, and weights and measures requirementsEnsure all required logbooks and temperature logs, are maintained, and verifiedReceive and examine inventory and supplies to ensure quality and quantity meet established standards and specificationsProperly maintain and store company inventory including utensils, cookware, and machineryShare equipment with co-workersCalibrate pH meters and thermometersAbide by appearance standardsComplete daily shift checklist that is verified by leader before leavingPerform any other duties as requested by shift leaderAdhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies/procedures in an ethical mannerEndorse the business objectives, ethics, and values of Caesars Entertainment in accordance with the Code of Commitment and Mission, Vision and ValuesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or GED preferredNinety days Cook I experience or one-year cooking experience outside casino requiredMust demonstrate the following essential knowledge and skills:Knowledge of kitchen sanitation standards and proceduresBasic knowledge of food preparation techniques and presentationExcellent interpersonal skillsAble to operate and maintain the following kitchen equipment: stoves, grills, fryers, other basic equipment, and other utensils when preparing food ordersProblem-solving abilities with the ability to quickly perform mathematical computationsNeat, professional appearance with excellent personal hygienePHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:Must be able to attend to multiple priorities simultaneouslyMust be able to be on feet for 8-hour shiftsMust be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and be able to push and pull up to 300 pounds in a cartMust be able to stoop, bend, reach, kneel, and twist itemsMust be physically mobile with reasonable accommodationMust be able to have exposure to extreme heat or cold temperaturesMust be able to respond to visual and aural cuesMust be able to read, write, and speak EnglishMust be able to handle high stress in the work environment and turn stress into high energyDexterity to use knives and other hand-held instruments, as well as food preparation equipment requiredMust be able to tolerate areas containing varying noise and temperature levels, illumination, vibration, crowds, and air quality including secondhand smokeMust be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidaysThis is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, requirements, or working conditions associated with the job.
