We don't just make products; we build the future of manufacturing.Built for Machinists Who Take Pride in PrecisionThis role is designed for skilled machinists who know how to take ownership of a machine, dial in setups, solve issues, and keep production moving.If you've spent years mastering setups, tooling, tolerances, machine efficiency, and production flow-and want to join a high-performance team where your skill matters-this is your opportunity.Be the Difference on the Production FloorAs our CNC Setup Machinist, you'll be responsible for safely setting up and operating advanced CNC machines and manufacturing cells in a fast-paced production environment.You'll work closely with operators, programmers, leads, and production management to ensure setups are accurate, machines run efficiently, and quality standards are consistently met.What This Job Actually Looks LikeYou set up a Hermle, Rosa Ermando, HAAS, or Doosan machine for a critical production run and ensure first article successYou troubleshoot tooling, offsets, or setup issues to keep production movingYou verify dimensions, tolerances, and offsets before production beginsYou support operators by handing off stable, repeatable setupsYou make minor machine-side edits to improve machine performance and efficiencyYou help the team hit production and delivery goals without sacrificing quality What You'll Do HereSet up and operate CNC machines including Rosa Ermando, HAAS, and Doosan platformsPerform setups on advanced 3- and 4-axis CNC milling machinesUtilize Fanuc controls and perform minor machine-side program editsOperate and support manufacturing cells in a high-volume environmentInterpret blueprints, specifications, setup sheets, and manufacturing documentationPerform setups using probes and tool settersVerify parts meet tolerance and quality standardsDocument setups and support process standardizationCoordinate production priorities to support manufacturing timelinesMaintain accurate job tracking and production records within Epicor ERP (preferred)Accurately complete travelers, including part counts and revision verificationTroubleshoot tooling, machine, and setup issues quickly and effectivelyMaintain a safe, clean, and organized work environmentCommunicate effectively across departments to support workflow and production requirementsSupport continuous improvement and efficiency effortsPerform other duties as assigned You Must HaveHigh School Diploma or equivalent job experienceMinimum 3 years of CNC setup machinist experienceStrong experience setting up 3- and 4-axis CNC milling machinesWorking knowledge of Fanuc controlsAbility to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing documentationExperience with setup sheets, offsets, probes, and tool settersStrong understanding of G & M codesAbility to perform minor machine-side program editsStrong troubleshooting and tooling optimization capabilitiesStrong mathematical and inspection skillsExperience using precision inspection equipment including calipers, gauges, indicators, pins, micrometers, and height gaugesAbility to thrive in a very fast-paced manufacturing environmentAbility to work overtime and weekends as needed What You'll BringStrong attention to detailExcellent math and measurement skillsSense of urgency and pride in quality workReliable attendance and punctualitySelf-motivated attitude with minimal supervisionAbility to communicate effectively across teamsDesire to contribute to a high-performance manufacturing cultureWhy You'll Love Working With UsAt 5th Axis, your experience matters.
