Role: CEPH Developer with strong hands-on CEPH development experience.Candidates with upstream CEPH contribution experience will be highly preferred and are likely to receive greater consideration from client.Location : 100 % Remote with in european unionCeph storage systemThis service delivers a scalable, cloud-native object storage solution based on upstream Ceph, integrated and managed via Rook within a Kubernetes environment. It offers high-availability S3 and OpenStack Swift-compatible APIs, designed to meet the needs of modern, cloud-native workloads. The team actively contributes to upstream Ceph development, focusing on improving object storage compatibility, performance, and feature integration. Tight integration with Kubernetes enables declarative configuration, automated lifecycle management, and seamless horizontal scaling. By adopting Kubernetes-native automation and contributing to the Ceph ecosystem, the service ensures both operational efficiency and continuous improvement of the underlying storage platform.Ceph Storage Service5+ yearsCeph Developer (C++ / Python) As a Ceph Developer, you will work on the core components of the Ceph storage platform, with a focus on performance optimization, feature development, and long-term maintainability. You will contribute to both upstream Ceph and internal forks, designing and implementing enhancements across modules like RGW, RADOS, RBD, and CephFS. This role combines deep system-level development with the operational realities of running Ceph in large-scale, Kubernetes-driven cloud-native environments.Team ActivitiesDesign and implement new features in Ceph (RGW, RADOS, RBD, CephFS)Optimize storage system performance, scalability, and reliabilityTroubleshoot distributed storage issues and debug low-level system behaviorParticipate in upstream Ceph development and community discussionsIntegrate Ceph with Kubernetes via Rook and CSI driversMonitor and improve system observability using telemetry and metricsPlan and execute development tasks using Agile methodologiesContribute to technical documentation, design reviews, and internal knowledge sharingRequired SkillsStrong proficiency in C++ and Python (5+ years)Hands-on experience with Ceph (any of RGW, RADOS, RBD, CephFS)Solid understanding of Linux internals (I/O, memory management, threading)Familiarity with Kubernetes, Rook, and Ceph CSI driversExperience with Git, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelinesExposure to large-scale infrastructure or cloud-native environmentsProficiency with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.) Optional SkillsContributions to open-source projects (especially Ceph)Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or OpenStackFamiliarity with performance profiling tools and storage benchmarksKnowledge of S3 and Swift protocols and object storage semantics
