Adult Education Public Safety-Fire Instructor

STARTING DATE: Current School Year REPORTS TO: Supervisor Workforce DevelopmentWORK YEAR: As Needed BasisSALARY RANGE: $38 per hourQUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:Valid/Appropriate Ohio teaching license/certificate or ability to obtainHolder of either a VFF, FFI, or FFII instructor cards and certification.As listed below or any acceptable combination of the following:A minimum of five years' experience in the fieldA thorough understanding of the Firefighter curriculum/competencies and procedures to prepare students to successfully complete the program and pass the certification examsAbility to motivate students to perform well in skills, drills and academicsAbility to instruct students using a combination of subject matter and experience designed to prepare students for career choices and post-secondary educational optionsDemonstrated ability to individualize instruction and work with students having a variety of needs and abilitiesExcellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent oral and written communications skills with students / employers / educatorsDemonstrated understanding of Ohio's graduation expectations and of Ohio Public Safety Content StandardsAbility to develop cooperative relationships with area employers and establish an advisory committee made up of representatives from the communities we serveVolunteerism and competition skills are appreciated RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:Assist with development, planning and implementation of appropriate lessons using the course of study and academic standards and Career Tech competenciesDesign appropriate assessments for students and vary instructional strategiesEnforce and maintain proper classroom rules for discipline and managementWork collaboratively and effectively with educators, students and form positive relationships with business and industry representativesAssist in preparing students for both academic and Career Tech competency testsProvide leadership in student management, classroom instruction, curriculum development, and career/technical club activitiesWork under the guidelines of Penta's Mission Statement and goalsAttend district and state professional development eventsRemain free of any non-prescribed controlled substance or alcohol abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the districtAssume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Education, Career and Technical Supervisor, Director, or designeeDEADLINE: Open until filled.
