Be a part of something special!Role And ResponsibilitiesThis position will support the DOT Secure Data Commons/Data Analytics and Visualization Environment (SDC/DAVE) platform as a data engineer. The engineer will work alongside senior architects and data engineers to design, build, and maintain the data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver data across the platform's data lake and warehouse environment. The role is designed for high-aptitude early-career engineers who learn quickly and can grow into meaningful ownership of pipeline and platform responsibilities.Specific Responsibilities IncludeDesigning and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and PySpark within a distributed compute environmentWorking with big data technologies including Apache Spark for large-scale data transformation and processingDeveloping scalable database solutions using PostgreSQL and other relational or columnar data storesContributing to data quality monitoring and automated testing frameworks within pipeline workflowsSupporting the development of data visualizations and dashboards (Tableau, Power BI)Participating in code reviews, documentation, and change control processesCollaborating with senior architects to implement data catalog and metadata tagging standardsRapidly learning new tools and platforms as the program evaluates and adopts them, including emerging AI and analytics capabilitiesEducation Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a closely related technical disciplineRequired SkillsProgramming and Data EngineeringStrong SQL skills with practical experience querying relational or columnar data storesProficiency in Python for data processing, transformation, and scriptingDemonstrated experience with ETL/ELT processes, data manipulation, or database management - through coursework, projects, or internshipFamiliarity with version control and collaborative development practices (Git)Portfolio or GitHub repository demonstrating data engineering or database project workMust be eligible to obtain and maintain Public Trust security clearanceHalvik Offers a Competitive Full Benefits Package IncludingCompany-supported medical, dental, vision, life, STD, and LTD insuranceBenefits include 11 federal holidays and PTOEligible employees may receive performance-based incentives in recognition of individual and/or team achievements.401(k) with company matchingFlexible Spending Accounts for commuter, medical, and dependent care expensesTuition AssistanceCharitable Contribution matchingHalvik Corp is an equal opportunity employer.
