Sous Chef

Position SummaryWe are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef in leading all back-of-house culinary operations for a high-volume fine dining restaurant. The Sous Chef plays a critical leadership role in maintaining exceptional food quality, kitchen organization, staff development, sanitation standards, and efficient service execution. This position requires strong culinary technique, leadership skills, creativity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced luxury dining environment. Key ResponsibilitiesAssist the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations and service management Lead and supervise line cooks, prep cooks, and kitchen staff during service Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented according to restaurant standards Maintain consistency, portion control, plating precision, and timing Support menu development, seasonal specials, and recipe testing Monitor food quality, freshness, and inventory levels Assist with ordering, vendor relations, and cost control initiatives Train, mentor, and evaluate kitchen staff to maintain high performance standards Enforce sanitation, food safety, and HACCP compliance procedures Coordinate with front-of-house management to ensure smooth guest experiences Step in for the Executive Chef during absences or peak operations Help manage labor scheduling and kitchen productivity Maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen environment Qualifications3–5+ years of culinary experience in upscale or fine dining restaurants Previous leadership experience as a Junior Sous Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Supervisor preferred Strong knowledge of classical cooking techniques and modern culinary trends Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and team leadership skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Knowledge of food costing, inventory management, and kitchen operations Culinary degree or formal culinary training preferred Food Handler Certification and knowledge of local health regulations required Preferred SkillsFine plating and presentation expertise Experience with tasting menus and seasonal cuisine Knowledge of wine pairings and luxury guest expectations Open-fire, butchery, pastry, or seafood experience is a plus Familiarity with kitchen management software and inventory systems Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods Lift and carry up to 50 lbs Work nights, weekends, and holidays as required Ability to perform in high-temperature kitchen environments Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experience Performance bonuses Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off Dining discounts Opportunities for career advancement and culinary development Sample Job Posting ClosingIf you are passionate about culinary excellence, leadership, and delivering unforgettable fine dining experiences, we invite you to apply and join our culinary team.
