ANNOUNCEMENT OF EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYEquipment Operator - Solid Waste DivisionPublic Works DepartmentHiring Range: $23.18 to $28.97FLSA Status: Non-ExemptPay Grade: 107Full Pay Range: $23.18 to $34.77Deadline to Apply: 04/06/2023Benefits Summary:Major Benefits for Full-Time Regular Employees:A diverse range of complimentary mental health and wellness services is available, including an Employee Assistance Program, a free subscription to Calm, and health coachingPaid time off up to 20 days in first year of employment10 paid holidays and 1 floating holiday per yearFree employee only coverage for medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, and life insuranceFree family coverage for select medical and dental plansPension and long-term disability through Arizona State Retirement System, click here for more detailsSupplemental benefits such as deferred compensation plans and additional life insurancePosition Summary:Under general supervision operates a motor vehicle and other equipment which may include an automated side-load refuse collection vehicle, an automated front-load refuse collection vehicle, a roll off refuse collection vehicle, a backhoe, an articulated loader, and a stationary boom crane to support solid waste activities at the City's transfer station.Essential Duties:Operates a motor vehicle and other equipment which may include an automated side-load refuse collection vehicle, an automated front-load refuse collection vehicle, a roll-off refuse collection vehicle, a backhoe, an articulated loader, and a stationary boom cranePerform routine maintenance and repair for vehicles and equipment used during the course of businessPerform daily pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspection check for assigned vehicles and equipmentPerform basic maintenance on equipment including greasing key components, washing and cleaning interior and exterior of vehicles, and cleaning air filter and radiatorPerform maintenance of refuse collection containers on assigned routesPerform daily/weekly maintenance of the Transfer Station and yard in conformance with ADEQ and EPA regulationsAssist in the setup, preparation, and cleanup of special events. Perform other tasks as neededQualifications:Education and/or Experience:High School diploma or equivalent required. Prior heavy or motorized equipment operator experience is preferred. Experience driving side-load and front-load refuse collection equipment preferred; Or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.Licensing, Certification, and Other RequirementsPossess, at minimum, a valid Class B Arizona Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or greater in good standing and be issued by the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division of Arizona Department of Transportation prior to start date of employment. A clean driving record is required.
