This position provides sexually transmitted infections (STI) testing and treatment and conducts communicable disease case investigations, contact tracing, and testing. Responsibilities include investigation, counseling, education, and activities related to the enforcement of public health laws, rules, and regulations governing HIV, STIs, tuberculosis (TB), and other communicable diseases.The Communicable Disease Nurse collaborates with internal and external partners, including Risk Reduction, Environmental Health, Public Health Immunizations, health systems, schools, the Oregon State Public Health Laboratory, state/local epidemiologists, and other community partners.This position requires occasional evening or weekend work and may assist with public health emergency response activities as needed.This position may be filled at the Health Care Professional Level 3 or Health Care Professional Level 5 depending on experience, education, and specialized certifications.Click here for a complete list of the duties and responsibilities of this position.First review of Applications will be March 31, 2026.Applications submitted after this date may or may not be considered.Please note that this recruitment may close at any time after the first review date when a sufficient number of applications are received.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSThe following minimum qualifications are required for this position:Health Care Professional Level 3 level:Current Oregon Registered Nurse license.Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) and 1-3 years of nursing experience or equivalent (RN and 4 years of nursing experience).BSN preferred.Health Care Professional Level 5 level:Current Oregon Registered Nurse license.Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) and 8 years of nursing experience or equivalent (BSN, 8 years of nursing experience, and specialized certification or RN, 14 years of nursing experience, and specialized certification)MSN preferred.Additional Special Qualifications for both levels:Hiring is contingent upon the successful completion of a background checkCurrent driver's license or ability to obtainAbility to work on-site or off-site based on assignment and program needsPreferred Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesBilingual proficiency in English/Spanish or other languages.Knowledge of communicable disease prevention, infection control, and disease investigation.Experience providing STI and TB clinical services.Experience providing trauma-informed and stigma-reducing patient care.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to interact with co-workers, partners, and the public in a courteous and professional manner.Demonstrated customer service skills.Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.Annual salary range:Health Care Professional Level 3: $77,634 - $112,280; Depending on qualifications and experience.Health Care Professional Level 5: $87,082 - $125,942; Depending on qualifications and experience.Please ensure you have provided a thorough and updated application as it pertains to the position for which you are applying.
