Fabrication- Youth Apprentice

Youth Apprenticeship Are you a high school junior or senior looking to learn a trade? A youth apprenticeship is a great opportunity to gain new skills and get paid while still in school!Under the direct supervision of a mentor, you will assist the fabrication department by performing the following duties:Reads set up sheet, identifies appropriate tooling, and properly sets up the brake press, laser, or punch to avoid scrap, tool, or machine damageSelects the appropriate brake press, laser, or punch program operation and makes feature changes as neededReads and understands American and European blue prints and geometric tolerances to assist with bending and cutting metalUses proper lifting and handling techniques to load and unload steelInspects parts using micrometers, height gauges, and calipers and records the dimensional data on the inspection sheetAdjusts the brake press, laser, or punch to maintain part specificationsUses proper deburring techniques to maintain good cosmetic appearance of partsCleans hand tools and tooling and returns to proper locationQualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or experience:High school junior or senior enrolled in a related tech ed class.Language skills:Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos, as well as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other employees of the organization.Mathematical skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Work environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
