Job Description:Part-Time Special Education DirectorAndover Public Schools - Andover, CTAndover Public Schools is seeking a collaborative, student-centered educational leader to serve as our Part-Time Special Education Director (Up to 1.5 days per week). Newly retired and aspiring administrators encouraged to apply!Andover is a small, close-knit district serving approximately 260 students in one PreK-6 elementary school. This role is ideal for an experienced special education leader who values meaningful relationships, strong systems, and the opportunity to make a direct impact in a community-centered environment.Position OverviewThe Part-Time Special Education Director is responsible for overseeing all special education processes, compliance, and programming across the district. This individual serves as the district's primary leader for:PPT (Planning & Placement Team) processesIEP development and complianceSpecial education oversight and guidanceCollaboration with staff and familiesThis role ensures that all students with disabilities receive high-quality, legally compliant services aligned to their individual needs.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & OversightServe as the district's Special Education DirectorEnsure compliance with all state and federal special education regulationsOversee implementation of special education programming and servicesSupport staff in meeting the needs of diverse learnersPPT & IEP ManagementChair and oversee all PPT meetingsSupervise the development, review, and revision of IEPsMonitor timelines and procedural safeguardsEnsure documentation and compliance standards are consistently metCollaboration & ConsultationPartner with the building principal, teachers, related service providers, and familiesProvide guidance on instructional supports and service deliverySupport problem-solving and student-centered decision makingSystems & ComplianceMaintain district-wide oversight of:EvaluationsService deliveryProgress monitoringAnnual reviews and triennial evaluations* Ensure timely reporting and data submission to the stateQualificationsRequired:* Connecticut Certification as an Intermediate Administrator & Supervisor (#092) orSpecial Education Administrator (#165)Preferred:Prior experience as a Special Education Director or SupervisorStrong knowledge of IDEA and Connecticut special education regulationsStrong familiarity with CTSedsExperience chairing PPT meetingsExcellent communication and organizational skillsCollaborative leadership styleSchedule* Part-Time: 1.5 days per week* Flexible scheduling in collaboration with the Superintendent and PrincipalWhy Andover?This is a unique opportunity to:?
