Construction Permit Coordinator
Permits are the difference between a four month build and a nine month wait. We are looking for the person who makes ours move.
Framework First builds homes inside our own factory, then crane delivers them onto our clients' properties. Permits, foundation, finishes, and inspections are all handled for the client. Before any of that can start, every project has to get approved through the city or county. That is your job.
You will own the permitting process for every project across our Tri-County service area (Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito) plus Santa Clara and San Luis Obispo counties, and wherever our projects take us next, spanning the 15-plus jurisdictions we build in. When a permit is moving, our whole operation moves. When it stalls, you are the person who gets it unstuck.
There is room to grow, too. As we scale, motivated Permit Coordinators can be promoted into a role that takes on more of the planning department, including site visits and travel, but that's a step up from this role, not a day-one expectation.
*What you'll do*
* Prepare and submit complete permit packages (applications, plan sets, supporting documents) to city and county planning and building departments.
* Track every permit from feasibility through final approval. Know the status of every application, every day, before anyone asks.
* Know each jurisdiction's zoning, setback, ADU ordinance, and utility rules cold, so our feasibility studies are accurate before we ever submit.
* Build real relationships with planners, building officials, and inspectors across every city and county we serve.
* Turn plan check corrections and resubmittals around fast, so a small comment never costs us weeks.
* Coordinate daily with our project managers, planning team, and clients to keep every project on schedule.
*Who you are*
* Experience with California permitting or entitlements. Construction, ADU, modular, architecture, civil, or planning backgrounds are all welcome.
* You know your way around planning portals, building department counters, and permit software.
* Organized to a fault. You live in checklists and never let an application sit.
* Persistent and easy to work with. You can get a planner to call you back and keep it friendly.
* Detail obsessed. A wrong setback or a missing form does not get past you.
*Job specifics*
* Location: 1610 Moffett Street, Salinas, CA (our factory).
* Schedule: Mon–Fri, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM (40 hrs/week).
* Pay: $30–$40 per hour to start (about $62,400–$83,200 a year at 40 hours), with raises as you grow into the role.
* Benefits: 401(k), paid vacation/holiday/sick, employee discount, and a clear path to grow as we scale. Starting October 1, 2026, we are also adding health, dental, and vision coverage.
*How to apply*
Apply at apply.frameworkfirst.com. Submit your resume along with a short note about the trickiest permit or approval you ever got across the finish line: what made it hard, and how you closed it out.
*What happens next*
We read every application. If your experience looks like a fit, we reach out to schedule a short virtual interview, a real conversation, not a form.
No videos to record and no hoops to jump through. If that goes well, the next step is an in-person conversation with our leadership team at our Salinas factory.
If that goes well, we will reach out about next steps.
