TECH & MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST/GAME GUIDE
Company Overview
Escape Code is a top-rated entertainment venue known for delivering exceptional customer experiences through immersive escape room adventures. Our commitment to excellence and innovation has earned us a leading reputation in the fun and games industry, inspiring us to continually elevate our standards.
What We Need
We are looking for a versatile Tech & Maintenance Specialist/Game Guide to ensure our immersive worlds remain seamless, safe, and functional. You will be focused on both the low-voltage, technical side of the business as well as facility maintenance in our high-traffic facility.
One hour you might be troubleshooting a controller or wiring a magnetic lock; the next, you might be repairing a drywall scuff or adjusting a door closer. If you enjoy a job where no two days are the same and your work directly impacts the "magic" of the player experience, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Game Electronics & Props: Install, troubleshoot, and repair low-voltage wiring, sensors (IR, RFID, Reed), buttons, switches, and custom controllers.
Facility Maintenance: Perform routine repairs including painting, drywall patching, hardware replacement, and ensuring the property looks and functions like new.
Hardware & Carpentry: Maintain and reinforce doors, locks, and physical puzzles to withstand heavy daily use.
Preventative Care: Conduct weekly audits of game rooms to identify and fix wear-and-tear before it leads to "game down" situations.
Vendor Coordination: Occasionally source parts or work with specialized contractors (HVAC, Electrical) for larger facility needs.
Qualifications
Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of low-voltage DC circuits and basic electronics.
Handyman Skills: High comfort level with power tools and general facility repair (painting, hardware, basic carpentry).
Problem Solver: Ability to think on your feet and create "quick-fix" solutions that keep games running during busy shifts.
Detail Oriented: You notice the small things—a loose screw or a flickering LED—before the customers do.
Experience: Previous experience in property maintenance, AV installation, or hobbyist electronics is a major plus.
Game Guide
The most time-intensive part of the job will be working on our team of Game Guides. Welcoming guests and running our various games will be your primary responsibility until technical or maintenance attention is required. Game Guides are responsible for the guest experience from the time a team enters the door until we thank them for visiting us at the end of the game.
Specifically a Game Guide will:
Greet guests as they enter the building with passion and energy!
Check them in via our booking system.
Brief them about the rules, game strategy and story.
Answer any questions they may have.
Closely monitor their game via audio and video from the control room.
Communicate with them as needed during the game.
Quickly reset the room for the next team. Speed and extreme attention to detail is mandatory.
Answer phone calls, respond to emails and make bookings.
Additionally, staff is responsible for cleaning the property as needed to ensure an atmosphere of excellence is maintained.
The prime candidate will:
Smile a lot, know how to have fun and enjoy interacting with people.
Have a strong work ethic understanding that our business keeps an extremely tight schedule.
Be detail oriented.
Have a steady work history.
Be able to resolve unexpected problems as they arise.
Be able to multi-task.
Have fantastic communication skills.
Have at least basic computer knowledge. (Sending emails, basic troubleshooting when apps or computers aren't functioning properly, etc.)
IMPORTANT: This is a long-term, permanent position and is not designed for those looking for short-term or seasonal work. > To ensure you have read this entire description and possess the extreme attention to detail required to maintain our immersive worlds, please include the exact phrase "LONG-TERM TECH SPECIALIST" at the very top of your cover letter or in a prominent place in the application.
