Skilled Nursing of Staten Island - Key Responsibilities:Prepare, cook, and portion meals according to planned menus and prescribed diets (e.g., low sodium, diabetic, pureed diets).Ensure all meals meet nutritional guidelines and residents' dietary restrictions.Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during meal preparation and service.Monitor food quality, taste, temperature, and presentation.Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations (e.g., HACCP standards).Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.Assist with menu planning and food ordering as needed.Track inventory and minimize food waste.Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training preferred.Previous experience as a cook, preferably in healthcare, nursing home, or institutional settings.Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food preparation for special populations.Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.Strong organizational and time management skills.Physical Requirements:Ability to stand for extended periods.Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds.Comfortable working in a hot kitchen environment.Work Environment:Nursing home or long-term care facility kitchen.May include weekends, holidays, and early morning or evening shifts.Every other weekend
