Technician
Job Title: Technician Division: FiOptix Inc FSLA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Operations Manager Job Summary: This position is responsible for the installation or replacement of cable/fiber TV, and digital video/TV, internet, voice, and security products and services for residential and/or commercial subscribers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Install, maintain, and repair cable/fiber TV, voice, and internet systems; including internal and external wiringTest newly installed or relocated cables/fiber according to Company and customer specificationsTroubleshoot issues with the network communicationRepair related cable and fiber poles and towersInstall cable and fiber support structures, including but not limited to cable racks, j-hooks, and innerductCollaborate with internal customer service to ensure work orders are handled correctly and timelyPromote a positive relationship between the Company and customer subscribers; escalate matters of concern to local managementProvide education to subscribers on the use of equipment and servicesClose out work orders accurately and timely with the proper task and/or billing codesAdhere to safety protocols set forth by the Company, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as requiredSafely operate and maintain Company and customer issued tools, equipment, and vehiclesPerform regular vehicle and tool inspectionsOther duties as assigned Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. Education: High school diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education Experience: One-year professional cable technician experienceOne-year customer service experienceAbility to utilize small hand tools and various power tools Technical Skills:Ability to install complex television and internet equipmentAbility to utilize mobile test equipmentKnowledge of CATV/fiber installation quality standards and requirementsAbility to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve customer-initiated service and installation issues Soft Skills:Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructionsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong verbal communication and interpersonal skillsSuperior customer service focusStrong time management skills Physical Requirements: Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testingMust have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Company requirementsMust be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat, and lift 80 lbs.Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditionsAbility to work in confined spacesAbility to climb and carry a 28-foot ladder and work at heightsAbility to stand for long periods of time on varied surfacesAbility to work long and unpredictable hours Disclaimer: All job requirements are subject to possible revision to reflect changes in the position requirements.
