Amazon Aurora Serverless is an on-demand, auto-scaling configuration for Amazon Aurora that automatically starts, stops, and scales capacity based on application needs with no downtime. It allows you to run your database in the cloud without managing any database instances, relying on foundational AWS services such as EC2, S3, and DynamoDB. We are looking for passionate and curious engineers to innovate with us on behalf of our customers. In this role, you will work with senior engineers to design and implement systems that orchestrate thousands of databases. You will build a foundational platform consisting of web service APIs and workflows that make Aurora Serverless highly available, scalable, reliable, and fast. This position requires that the candidate selected must be a U.S. Citizen. Key Responsibilities Core systems development where you will own the design and development of significant system software components critical to our industry-leading database services. You will architect, design, and implement highly scalable distributed database systems that provide availability, reliability, and performance guarantees. This is a hands‐on position that includes building robust components, mentoring other engineers, and excelling in communication, leadership, and customer focus. Basic Qualifications 3+ years of non‐internship professional software development experience 2+ years of non‐internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling of new and existing systems) 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience 1+ years of designing and developing large‐scale, multi‐tiered, multi‐threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl 1+ years of Object‐Oriented Design experience Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
