Estimator
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for underground utilities, pipeline, grading, structures, and related construction projects. This full-time, onsite role in Houston, Texas supports business development and project execution by performing quantity takeoffs, analyzing costs, and preparing bid packages. The Estimator works closely with Operations and Project Management to ensure pricing aligns with market conditions and project goals.Key Responsibilities:Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to define scopePerform quantity takeoffs and develop cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractorsSolicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricingPrepare bid proposals, scope letters, and supporting documentationAttend pre-bid meetings and coordinate RFIsIdentify risks, constructability issues, and value-engineering opportunitiesMaintain estimating data, cost histories, and bid recordsSupport bid handoff and collaborate with project teamsQualifications:High school diploma or GED required; degree preferred5+ years of construction estimating experienceExperience in underground utilities or civil construction preferredProficiency with estimating software (HCSS, B2W, PlanSwift) and ExcelStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsWork Environment:Primarily office-based with occasional site visits. May involve prolonged sitting and light lifting up to 20 pounds. Work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and PPE requirements.
