This is a critical individual contributor role that will help in the selection and implementation of a new HRIS for a mid-market employer, standing up internal payroll and benefits administration, and building scalable People operations from the ground up.This role combines hands-on execution with meaningful ownership across systems, compliance, and core People processes. You will be instrumental in designing workflows, establishing operational rigor, and ensuring a high-quality employee experience.HRIS Implementation & ManagementPlay a key role in evaluating, selecting, and implementing a new HRIS platformDesign and build scalable workflows, processes, and data structures within the HRISPartner cross-functionally with Finance, Accounting, IT, and external vendors to ensure successful system implementation and integrationsEstablish best practices for data governance, security, and system utilizationPayroll, Benefits & ComplianceOwn end-to-end semi-monthly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and complianceStand up and administer employee benefits programs, including health, welfare, and retirement (401k)Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and filing requirements across payroll, benefits, and employment practicesManage relationships with payroll, benefits, and other People-related vendorsPeople Operations & Employee SupportServe as a key point of contact for employee questions related to payroll, benefits, and People operationsSupport employee relations matters, including assisting with investigations and documentationMaintain accurate and compliant employee records and documentationReporting, Analytics & ProjectsDevelop and deliver People data reporting and insights to support business decisionsBuild dashboards and reporting capabilities within the HRISLead and support cross-functional People projects (e.g., process improvements, compliance initiatives, system enhancements)Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and employee experienceQualifications and Skills Required qualifications: 6+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations, or similar rolesDemonstrated experience supporting or leading an HRIS implementationStrong hands-on experience with payroll processing and benefits administrationDeep experience administering HRIS platforms (e.g., BambooHR, HiBob, Paycom, Workday Go, or similar)Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll and employment compliance requirementsHigh attention to detail with a strong data integrity mindsetAnalytical and systems-oriented thinker with the ability to translate data into insightsProven ability to manage vendors and cross-functional stakeholdersStrong project management skills and ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environmentStrong judgment and ability to handle sensitive employee matters with discretionPreferred qualifications: Experience in a high-growth SaaS environmentExperience building People operations outside of a PEO environmentExperience with system integrations and HR tech stack optimizationMBA or other relevant certificationsAI Agent creation and managementBenefits and PerksA collaborative work environment with the freedom and opportunities of a startup cultureA global, remote-first company that encourages occasional team get-togethersLife and work balanceFlexible vacation timeRetirement plan matching up to 3.5% of your salaryVaried options for health, dental, vision, disability and life insuranceActiveProspect is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
