As part of our corporate culture, we recognize our role in meeting the current generation's needs, while preserving environmental quality and protecting the needs of future generations.We are looking for a student intern at our Festus, MO plant who want to become part of the solution, help us continue providing quality products, and grow our talent and leader pool.ResponsibilitiesThe Safety and Health Intern will help perform routine safety inspections and observations, assist with incident, near-miss, and hazard data collection, support basic safety data analysis and reporting, and perform a safety-focused research or improvement project, gathering data and presenting findings to the safety and plant leadership teams. They will also familiarize themselves with MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) safety regulations and standards, including MSHA General Industry requirements such as Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Confined Space, Hazard Communication, PPE, and Emergency Action Plans.Responsibilities:Learn the process flow of cement manufacturing and applicable MSHA safety regulations and standards (MSHA General Industry, Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Confined Space, Hazard Communication, PPE)Conduct safety inspections and observations, generate reports, and assist with initiating corrective actionsSupport incident, near-miss, and hazard reporting, including basic root-cause analysis and documentationAssist with job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and safe work procedure reviewsPerform a safety-related research or improvement project, gathering data and presenting findings to the safety and plant leadership teamsTrack and analyze safety performance metrics (injury rates, near-miss trends, corrective action status, training completion)Manage organization, archives, and recordkeeping for safety and training compliance (MSHA logs, permits, inspections, training records)Desired Majors: Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related fieldDesired Class Level(s): SeniorSalary Level: Paid - $25.00 per hour plus monthly housing stipend if neededDuration: 12 weeks, 40 hours per weekQualificationsQualifications:Strong interpersonal skills, self-starter and inquisitive by natureSolid knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Word and ExcelSolid reasoning, analytical, and communication skillsMust possess excellent work ethicMust be able to multi-taskBuzzi Unicem USA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
