Content & Social Producer (Game Marketing) | %100 Remote | Work From Home

Rather Clever Studios is an independent game studio in active development on a spy-themed persistent online multiplayer RPG. We are lean, funded, and remote-first. The team spans multiple continents and operates async with direct communication and flat titles. We ship things. The work is the work.About the ProjectA top-down 3D persistent-world espionage RPG set in a stylized retro-futuristic alternate-reality 1987. Five intelligence agencies wage a shadow war across a living city. Players earn identity, reputation, and power through infiltration, information warfare, document running, faction loyalty, and emergent high-stakes play. Agency commitment is permanent. Information is the most valuable currency in the game.We are approaching our first public reveal cycle. Tier 1 indie dev reveal hits in late May. Tier 2 mainstream press follows in late July alongside our pre-alpha. Festival submissions come after. Between now and then we are building the voice of this world from scratch — and that is what this role is for. This Is a Producer Role, Not a Babysitter RoleRead this section twice. We are not hiring someone to sit in a Discord and wait for things to happen. We are not hiring someone to schedule three posts a week and call it marketing. We are not hiring a content coordinator. We are not hiring a community moderator. We are not hiring a vibes person. We are hiring a producer. You ship from day one. You make daily posts. You cut shorts. You pitch streamers. You film, edit, and publish devlogs. You write blog content that we hand you and you make it sing. You turn our real development into real public content on a daily cadence. If the word “produce” does not describe your default operating mode, this role will break you inside two weeks. We are not babysitting the person who takes this role, and the person who takes this role is not babysitting us. We meet each other at the level of the work.As our Content & Social Producer (Game Marketing), you will:Own and produce social content for a high-potential indie game, shaping its voice across platforms and building a living, in-world narrative. The RoleYou will own two distinct social accounts across multiple channels, and one content production stream that feeds both plus our owned properties.Account One — Founder Producer. The real-world founder voice. A game producer publicly documenting the building of an indie studio from zero to launch. Devlogs, shorts, long-form thinking, behind-the-scenes, craft talk, industry commentary. This is a real person building something real, narrated in real time.Account Two — In-World Universe. The fiction lives here. You operate social channels as if our world is real. The five agencies are active. The city is operating. Power struggles are being won and lost. You write and ship content as if you are reporting from inside that world — faction bulletins, recruitment drives, intercepted transmissions, incident reports, dominance updates, and in-world reactions to real events happening in the game. You never break character. When Green dominates the Power Struggle for three months, Red and Black issue recruitment bonuses, and you are the one writing those bonuses. These two accounts are deliberately different voices. They never merge on the same channel, but they reinforce each other — the more real the world feels, the more credible the founder’s journey becomes, and the more credible the founder, the more plausible the world. The First 30 Days — Ship From Day OneWeek 1: Weekly devlog cadence established. Daily posts running across all accounts.Week 2: Short-form content pipeline running. First batch of shorts shipped.Week 3: Streamer outreach list built and pitches ready to send.Week 4: Podcast pitching campaign built and running for the founder.Ongoing Output (Month 2+)2 short-form clips shipped per day, every day, across TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Twitter/X, and Reels1 devlog episode per week, produced end to endDaily posts across both accounts beyond the shorts — threads, single posts, cryptic drops, faction reports, founder commentaryBlog content formatted and published from producer-written draftsStreamer and creator outreach as a live ongoing campaign with tracked pipelineFounder podcast booking — pitches, follow-ups, scheduling, prep briefsReactive in-world content shipped same-day when events warrantExample Creative ActivationsThe kinds of ideas that live inside your job. Not rare bonus work — actual monthly output.A “classified” document drops on Twitter partially redacted. Community members are asked to decode it.The Green agency announces it has infiltrated one of the other agencies. No confirmation, no denial. Let the community speculate for a week.A “leaked” internal memo shows a pop-up base location. It is real within the game. Community members who were paying attention get first access.A devlog goes up showing real dev progress. The next day, an in-world transmission acknowledges the “reconstruction effort” from a different angle.Reporting & EngagementYou report directly to the senior producer. There is no layer between you and final creative authority — which means fast iteration, direct feedback, and real ownership from day one. This is a contract role with an initial three-month term and a clear path to ongoing engagement based on results. Expected commitment is full-time hours across production, posting, and outreach.Who we are looking for?Native or near-native English writing ability. A single awkward phrase breaks the fiction. Your portfolio must demonstrate range — playful, menacing, bureaucratic, cold, warm, clipped.Proven production chops. You have shipped content. A lot of it. We want to see your TikToks, your YouTube shorts, your Twitter presence, your devlog work, anything you have produced that shows volume, voice, and hook discipline.Hands-on video editing. DaVinci Resolve, Premiere, Final Cut, or CapCut. We do not care which. You film, you cut, you publish.Native fluency with TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Twitter/X, and Reels. Not “familiar with.” Native. You know the platforms the way a musician knows their instrument.Proven ability to hold a distinct voice across time. Fiction, themed social accounts, brand voice work, ghostwriting, in-character communities — if you have done it, we want to see it.Obsessive attention to tonal consistency. You notice when a sentence is two degrees off-voice.Outreach comfort. You can write a cold DM to a streamer or a podcast host that actually gets opened and replied to.Ability to take direct creative feedback without spiraling, and iterate quickly. We work async-first. Ego costs us time.Interest in espionage, noir, social deduction, persistent online worlds, or any of the genres this game lives inside. This shows in the work.Nice-to-HavesExperience running or contributing to an ARG, diegetic marketing campaign, or in-world social account with a real followingBackground in fiction writing, game writing, narrative design, or screenwritingFamiliarity with thumbnail design, graphic design basics (Figma, Photoshop)Experience with Suno, ElevenLabs, Runway, or other AI creative tools — we use them and want someone who treats them as instruments, not shortcutsUnderstanding of Kojima-style marketing (Death Stranding, MGS2), I Love Bees, Year Zero by Nine Inch Nails, the Cyberpunk 2077 ARG — if you know what we mean when we say “the trailer was an ARG,” you get itAny experience inside a small indie team — you understand the pace and the stakesWhy Join Us?Why This Job Is a Career-Defining Hire:Let us be blunt. This is a portfolio builder. For the right person, this is the role that puts a case study at the top of your career for the next ten years. You will be shaping the public voice of a game that is going to press, to festivals, and to a transmedia rollout. You will own the in-world voice of a persistent fictional universe being built from scratch. You will work directly with the senior producer — no layers, no committee, no brand team telling you to tone it down. Your best work will ship. Your ideas will be tested publicly. The thing you make over the next year will be something you can point to for the rest of your creative career. If you are the kind of writer and creator who has been stuck producing bland brand content and waiting for a real creative canvas, this is that canvas.Rather Clever Studios is an independent studio committed to hiring for talent, instinct, and voice. We are hiring globally for this role and welcome strong writers and creators from any time zone, provided you can maintain a 3-4 hour overlap with working hours and you meet the native-fluent English writing requirement. We are particularly interested in hearing from producers who ship daily, think in hooks, and have made things that felt alive.
