Job DescriptionJob Title: Metallurgical EngineerLocation: East Peoria, ILZip Code: 61611Duration: 12 MonthsPay Rate: $43.33/hr.Keyword's: #EastPeoriajobs; #MetallurgicalEngineerjobs;Start Date: ImmediateJob Summary:Project ExecutionLead and execute engineering projects from concept through commissioning and handoverDevelop project scope, schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation plansCoordinate with operations, quality, maintenance, and suppliers to ensure successful deliverySupport capital project installation, modification, and startup activitiesMetallurgical EngineeringApply metallurgical principles related to steel, cast iron, alloys, heat treatment, and forming processesSupport material selection, process qualification, and metallurgical validationPerform or coordinate metallurgical analysis (microstructure, hardness, mechanical testing, failure analysis)Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for material or process issuesMechanical EngineeringSupport mechanical system design including piping, fluid systems, quench systems, fixtures, and equipment layoutsReview mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculationsInterface with controls, electrical, and automation teams for integrated solutionsEvaluate equipment capability, reliability, and safetyManufacturing & Operations SupportProvide technical support during production trials, troubleshooting, and ramp upEnsure designs and processes meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirementsDevelop and review technical documentation, standards, and work instructionsCommunication & LeadershipAct as the technical point of contact for assigned projectsCommunicate clearly with cross functional teams and leadershipManage external suppliers, contractors, and engineering service providersBasic QualificationsBachelor"s degree in, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering and/orr related engineering disciplineExperience in manufacturing, heavy industry, or industrial equipment environmentsWorking knowledge of metallurgical processes and mechanical systemsAbility to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneouslyStrong problem solving and analytical skillsPreferred / Desired QualificationsExperience with heat treat, steel, forging, casting, or surface treatment processesExperience supporting capital equipment projects or plant installationsFamiliarity with mechanical design tools (AutoCAD, Creo, or similar)Experience working in cross functional, operations focused environmentsUnderstanding of quality systems, validation, and continuous improvementKey Skills & CompetenciesProject management fundamentals (scope, schedule, cost, risk)Metallurgical analysis and materials behaviorMechanical systems design and evaluationManufacturing process understandingSupplier and contractor coordinationClear technical communication and documentationTypical Work EnvironmentManufacturing facilities, labs, and industrial environmentsCombination of office based engineering work and shop floor supportOccasional travel to suppliers or manufacturing sites5-7 years experience required.Belcan is an equal opportunity employer.
