This is a hands-on leadership role where your ability to guide teams, manage logistics, and maintain compliance will make a meaningful impact. This role is ideal for someone who's proactive, detail-oriented, and ready to grow into a leadership position while making a real difference in daily operations.Responsibilities:Work with the site manager to promote a safe work environmentKnow customer requirements of assigned operation and assist in implementing work processes to exceed customer expectationsAssist in railcar switching and related functions as requiredTrain and develop employeesTake a leadership role in supervising crews, controlling expenses, and helping maintain payroll within the targeted budgetOccasionally represent the railroad at customer meetings and coordinate with partnering railroads to ensure customer needs are metAssist in conducting incident investigations, providing proper notification and documentationDevelop a management style consistent with company's core values that encourages results-oriented performance from all employeesAssist with other projects and perform other duties as assignedWorking Conditions / Physical Requirements:Full-time (40 plus hours weekly)Varying schedule in a 24/7 work environment that includes nights, holidays, weekends, and on-callMust be available to take calls and report outside of normal business hours on short notice to handle emergencies or situations related to maintaining fluid railroad operationsWalking long distances on uneven surfaces and climbing ladders and equipment always ensuring three points of contact in varying environmental conditionsAble to lift up to 75 pounds from floor to waist and carry short distancesAble to squat, bend and lift overheadHave good balance and coordinationMust meet vision requirements (including color)Skills and Experience:1+ year of work experience in a railroad related industryKnowledge and understanding of safety rules and proceduresEffective communication skills both written and verbalEffective computer skills (Microsoft Office, applications, reporting, etc.)Experience working in a safety-sensitive work environmentPossess situational awareness and decision-making abilities to respond effectively in a safety sensitive environmentRequired Education and Credentials:Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of high school diploma / GED and experience; bachelor's degree preferredCurrent Locomotive Engineer certification preferredValid driver's licenseAt least 18 years of ageEmployment Requirements:Pre-employment physical, hearing, and vision medical reviewSubject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing including pre-employment drug screeningBackground screening including criminal and motor vehicle driving historyRelocation:Must live within 50 miles of assigned location or be willing to relocate.This position is employed by the specific entity set forth in the job posting.Equal Opportunity EmployerThis employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
