You'll be responsible for architecting scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that process billions of dollars in transactions daily. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking to shape the future of our payment platform.As a Senior Architect, you'll translate complex business requirements into elegant technical solutions, mentor engineering teams, and drive architectural excellence across our product portfolio. You'll work at the intersection of real-time payment processing and large-scale batch operations, ensuring our systems meet the demands of global financial institutions.What You'll DoArchitecture & Technical LeadershipDesign and architect cloud-native solutions on AWS for both real-time payment processing and batch transaction systemsDefine technical standards, design patterns, and best practices for Java Spring Boot microservices architectureLead architectural reviews and provide guidance on scalability, performance, security, and cost optimizationTranslate business requirements into technical specifications and architecture roadmapsMake critical technology decisions balancing innovation, risk, and business valueCollaboration & MentorshipMentor and coach software engineering teams on architectural principles and cloud-native designPartner with product management, engineering, and operations teams to align technical solutions with business goalsConduct design reviews and provide technical guidance throughout the development lifecycleDrive adoption of modern engineering practices including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observabilityInnovation & StrategyResearch and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance our payment platform capabilitiesIdentify opportunities to modernize legacy systems and improve platform performanceContribute to enterprise architecture strategy and cross-product technology alignmentStay current with AWS services, Java ecosystem innovations, and payment industry trendsWhat You BringRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)10+ years of software architecture and development experienceDeep expertise with AWS cloud services (EC2, Lambda, ECS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, etc.)Strong background in Java and Spring Boot for building enterprise applicationsProven experience architecting high-volume, mission-critical systemsExpert knowledge of microservices architecture, API design, and distributed systemsStrong understanding of cloud security, compliance, and operational best practicesExperience with both real-time/online and batch processing architecturesExcellent communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiencesPreferred QualificationsExperience in payments, financial services, or other regulated industriesAWS certifications (Solutions Architect Professional or equivalent)Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis)Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS) and orchestrationFamiliarity with infrastructure as code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK)Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline designExperience leading architecture for global, multi-region deploymentsWork Environment & BenefitsHybrid work model with flexibility (2-3 days in-office per week)Competitive compensation including base salary, bonus, and equityComprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage401(k) with company matchProfessional development opportunities and certification supportCollaborative culture with brilliant colleagues solving complex challengesOccasional travel may be required (10-20%)
