Assistant Professor of Biology (Tenure-Track)
Job Summary:Delaware Valley University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Biology, starting in August 2026. The Biology Department seeks dynamic candidates with expertise in Pharmaceutical Science, Human Disease/Pathology and/or Epidemiology. Delaware Valley University is committed to undergraduate education therefore candidates will be required to teach introductory courses for science majors and non-majors. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to strengthen our Pre-professional curriculum by developing courses in their area of expertise.Candidates should submit a letter of application that includes their teaching interests, any research interests that can be used to further our undergraduate experience, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy, and the names and contact information for three professional references.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Reporting directly to Chair of the Biology Department, this faculty member will:Create new courses related to their field of expertiseBe adaptable to teach at various levels within the disciplineTeach introductory courses in BiologyRemain current in the fieldRecruit and advise students as neededPost and maintain regular office hoursServe on faculty committees as assigned or selectedParticipate in professional development activitiesAttend regularly scheduled faculty meetings, department meetings, and other required meetingsAssist with departmental needs and development including outcomes assessmentPerform other duties as assigned Education and Experience:Ph.D. in Biology, or related disciplineSpecialization in Pharmaceutical Science, Human Disease/Pathology or EpidemiologyExperience teaching biology courses at the undergraduate levelExperience teaching bioinformatics a plusExcellent written and oral communication skillsCommitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoringCommitment to ongoing faculty development and scholarshipEvidence of successful scholarshipExperience with online delivery of courses is beneficialAbout the University:Founded in 1896, DelVal is an academically rigorous interdisciplinary university dedicated to the sciences and liberal arts.
