The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, confident in their clinical skills, and committed to serving rural and underserved populations with compassion and respect. This role works closely with the dental team to support positive patient outcomes while maintaining strong infection control and documentation standards.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform oral prophylaxis and periodontal treatments, including scaling, root planning, and curettageApply topical fluorides and provide patient education on oral hygiene, nutrition, and preventive careConduct patient screenings, including caries detection, periodontal assessment, and medical history reviewTake, process, and mount dental radiographs in accordance with ALARA guidelinesAdminister local anesthetics and assist with periodontal surgical proceduresProvide gross debridement for acute periodontal conditionsMaintain accurate and timely patient documentation within the electronic health recordSupport infection control standards by sterilizing instruments, disinfecting operatories, and following OSHA and TJC guidelinesMonitor and manage hygiene supply inventoryMaintain patient recall systems and support continuity of careAssist in training dental staff in basic clinical skills, radiography, sterilization, and chairside supportIdentify potential medical or social concerns impacting patient care and escalate as appropriateSupport and promote dental prevention and patient education programsRequirementsState of Colorado Licensure of Dental HygieneAssociate or Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene1-2 years' experience working in a dental clinic environment desired.Successfully complete a background check and drug testingBilingual skills (English/Spanish) desirable but not requiredWhy Join Valley-Wide?Valley-Wide Health Systems, Inc. is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered healthcare to all individuals across our multi-county service area in southern Colorado.
