DOG HANDLER – PART-TIME
Take your enthusiasm for dogs to the next level! As a Dog Handler, you will provide responsible care and handling of dogs, supervising play groups, cleaning tasks, and customer service to our clientele and their companions. You will ensure a positive experience by going above and beyond for our guests showcasing a passion for animals and offering a safe play environment. Prior on the job experience with dogs in any capacity is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Patience - keep calm and collected in high-stress scenarios
Pet Care Expert - understanding of dog behavior and body language
Follows safe practices and procedures when introducing dogs
Ability to read and promote positive canine play
Excellent communication skills
Must have a love for dogs and a keen sense for animal safety
Must be observant
Must be punctual and reliable
Feed and medicate dogs accurately
Mop, sweep, dust, laundry, dishes and any additional cleaning tasks assigned during the shift
Must be comfortable working with a wide variety of animals including small and large dogs in a group setting
Supervise dogs during playtime to assure safe play. Must be attentive and be able to monitor dog interactions in a fun and friendly manner
Learn and identify appropriate and inappropriate dog play behaviors.
Visually identify and communicate any canine health concerns; including emesis, stool, and injuries - such as small scratches, punctures, redness, and limping.
Clean up after dogs, including pee, poop and more, and keeping the facility clean
Additional duties as assigned in an evolving animal care environment including maintenance, social media platforms, and more.
Key Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience handling dogs is a plus
Majority of day is spent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Must be able to work around pet hair and dander
Outgoing, energetic and friendly personality
High flexibility and ability to adapt to different customers and their needs
Answer paging promptly with as instructed
Strong communication skills
Ability to work in a fast moving and dynamic environment
Experience handling dogs is a plus
