Job Summary
The Facilities & Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of building systems, equipment, and grounds. This role performs preventive maintenance, responds to repair requests, and supports general facility upkeep to maintain a clean, safe, and functional work environment for staff and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Maintenance
Perform routine inspections of buildings, systems, and grounds to identify maintenance needs
Conduct preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and mechanical systems
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair situations
Troubleshoot and repair basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues
Repairs & Upkeep
Repair or replace damaged fixtures, doors, locks, flooring, walls, and ceilings
Maintain cleanliness and safety standards throughout the facility
Assist with office moves, furniture assembly, and space reconfigurations
Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance inventories
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and company policies
Identify and report potential safety hazards or facility risks
Support fire safety, emergency preparedness, and evacuation procedures
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and inspectors as needed
Administrative & Support Duties
Document completed work orders and maintenance activities
Track supply usage and submit purchase requests for materials
Communicate effectively with staff regarding maintenance updates and timelines
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or GED
Prior experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or a related field
Working knowledge of basic HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems
Ability to use hand and power tools safely
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Preferred
Experience working in commercial, healthcare, or office environments
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
Ability to perform hands-on repairs and manual labor tasks
Work Environment
Indoor and outdoor work environments
Exposure to noise, dust, and various weather conditions
Occasional after-hours or on-call availability may be required
