Controls Engineer
Job Title: Controls EngineerLocation: Philadelphia, PA (Onsite)Duration: FulltimeJob Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer responsible for supporting automation systems, troubleshooting complex control issues, and developing PLC/HMI programs from scratch. This role involves both remote and on-site support, requiring strong technical expertise in industrial automation, along with the ability to quickly adapt to different systems and environments.Key Responsibilities:Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and VFD systems from scratch Provide remote and on-site technical support for automation and control systems Diagnose and resolve electrical and control system issues using tools such as DMM and laptops Research and work with various PLC platforms and automation hardware Create and modify control logic, HMI interfaces, and system configurations Support commissioning, startup, and system integration activities Document technical findings, procedures, and service reports accurately Follow and update standard operating procedures and best practices Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams Required Qualifications:Minimum 5+ years of experience in Automation/Controls Engineering Proven ability to develop PLC programs from scratch Experience with multiple platforms such as: Allen-Bradley (RSLogix / Studio 5000) Siemens (TIA Portal) FactoryTalk, DirectSoft (preferred) Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical and control systems Proficiency using Digital Multimeters (DMM) and electrical test equipment Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals Basic knowledge of networking and computer systems (Windows OS, VM environments preferred) Work Requirements:Willingness to travel to customer sites (typically within 100 miles, occasional extended travel) Ability to respond to service calls on short notice, including occasional after-hours support Must have reliable transportation for site visits (mileage reimbursement provided) Key Skills:PLC Programming & Troubleshooting HMI Development Industrial Automation Systems Electrical Diagnostics & Root Cause Analysis Communication & Documentation Problem-Solving & Independent Work
