Operations Manager
The Operations Manager reports to the Plant Manager as an integral part of a mid-size manufacturing facility, processing fabricated components, assembly, and finished goods shipments via multiple satellite facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for all aspects of operation involved in a 24/7, multi-shift, fabrication and welding operation. This includes 6 shift supervisors, roughly 200 hourly shift employees.
Responsible for safety, schedule attainment, quality adherence, cost control, and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.
Responsible for coordinating activities between satellite facilities in the delivery of components to meet assembly schedules.
Maintains close employee relations with “hands on” floor presence. Responsible for all employee issues, hiring, training, promotions, disciplinary actions, etc.
Contribute to the strategic planning process of developing and implementing operations strategy.
Ensure all program team operational performance metrics are met or exceeded.
Ensure capacity and capability are continually planned in order to meet agreed customer requirements and work and information flow are documented and regularly reviewed to ensure smooth and rapid execution of Customer requirements.
Manage individual and team performance, regularly reviewing with Process Owners/Line Leaders, rewarding excellence and the achievement or bettering of targets and taking corrective action when necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum of BS degree in a manufacturing relevant field. Advanced education in business and continuous improvement is a plus.
10 years experience in manufacturing management. Metal Fabrication is a plus.
Strong leadership abilities. Ability to coach and motivate in the development of effective work teams.
Must display excellent communication skills; effective verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven record of success in a dynamic managerial setting.
Proven experience in leadership toward continuous improvement.
Lean implementation experience is a plus.
Computer proficiency with data manipulation, measurement tracking, cost profiles and load/capacity comparisons. SAP experience is a plus.
Ability to travel as necessary.
Experience in Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma a plus.
