Responsible for the production operations during the shift. Lead training of operators and development of operational procedures. Responsible for health & safety, quality and environment, and shift team management for assigned team.The Basics:Minimum of High school diploma or GED requiredBachelors degree in a relevant field and/or 4 years of military leadership experience and/or 4 years of progressive leadership experience in a Steel MillMinimum of 2 years of rolling mill experienceComputer skills to include Microsoft OfficeAbility to travel internationallyThe Extras:Advanced process control knowledgeSteel industry experience preferredDayforce and/or SAP experience preferredTRAITS TO BE SUCCESSFULHolds self and others accountable including but not limited to trainings, required meetings, and professional developmentMakes good and timely decisions aligned with company strategyCreates a climate where reports are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectivesIdentifies and develops potential successorsLeading and training a team on best practicesWHAT YOU’LL BE DOINGProject Execution and Startup Phase:Perform construction site safety walkthroughs and establish supervisor safety contactsLead training of operations staff and development of operational procedures prior to startupPerform miscellaneous tasks to support construction activities including drone mapping for construction progress trackingEvaluate and interview candidates for operators positions during hiring processEnsure HIRAC safety reviews are performed for operating procedures and contribute to themEnsure development of energy control procedures which meet operational needsPerform operational early equipment management reviews/inspections of OEM equipmentContribute to development of equipment commissioning plan and factory acceptance testing (performance guarantees)Operations Phase:Supervises and directs operations personnel on the specific duties to be accomplished each dayEnforces company policies using coaching and disciplinary recommendationsPerforms the shift turnover with the previous and following shiftsWorks closely with Maintenance team to diagnose problemsWorks on continuous improvement of processManages personnel work schedules, attendance and timekeepingSchedules and assigns required training for direct reportsResponsible for documentation and reporting of issues in mill with root cause analysis and recommends solutionsDemonstrates the company values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Relationships, and SustainabilityFulfills the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environmentFulfills the responsibilities required to achieve the Quality CommitmentDemonstrates commitment to teamwork by fostering an environment that embodies trust and respectYOUR WORK ENVIRONMENTOffice and Industrial settingDuring first 18 months, Construction settingGulf coast region in Calvert, ALInitial construction phase will be on days including weekend coverage eventually transitioning to Shift Work – Rotating 12 hour shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays; must be flexible to work to meet business needsPeople with heart pacemakers or any there electronic medical device are strictly prohibited from entering the furnace area. These devices include implanted pacemakers or implantable cardiac defibrillators where the device may be affected.
