This role focuses on manual, hands-on penetration testing of web applications and APIs to identify security vulnerabilities throughout the secure software development lifecycle (SDLC).You will serve as a subject matter expert in web, API, and cloud application security, working closely with development and architecture teams to proactively identify risk, demonstrate exploitability, and influence secure software design decisions. This is a fully onsite, contract-to-hire position based in Richardson, Texas.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct manual application security penetration tests against web applications and APIsIdentify and exploit vulnerabilities in application design and implementationMap findings to OWASP Top 10 and clearly articulate riskDevelop clear proof-of-concept (POC) demonstrations for development teams and leadershipReview technical architecture and design documentation to ensure security controls are incorporated earlyProvide guidance on secure application architecture standards and design patternsPartner with application and security SMEs to support secure development practicesCommunicate application security concepts effectively across multiple organizational levelsContribute to a culture of secure-by-design software developmentAdditional Skills (Nice To Have)Experience testing REST APIs, authentication flows, authorization models, and token-based securityFamiliarity with cloud-hosted application risksExposure to CI/CD security tooling (SAST, DAST, SCA)Experience in regulated or financial services environmentsSecurity certifications such as OSCP, OSWE, GWAPT, GPEN, or CEHAbility to review and influence application security controls before code is deployedBusiness DriversThis role supports a proactive application security program within a banking environment, where early identification and exploitation of vulnerabilities helps reduce downstream risk and improve overall security posture.
